Kalham Consulting Ltd. was established in 2022 following the acquisition of Wade Engineering’s Reserve Fund Study department assets.

Our history

Experience that predates Alberta’s legislated Reserve Fund framework.

Through the team’s history, nearly 2,000 completed reports are on file. That experience spans a wide range of condominium properties, building systems and long-term funding challenges.

Our team includes knowledgeable inspectors with experience reviewing roofing, building envelope, mechanical, electrical and other building systems.

Kalham continued serving existing clients after the 2022 acquisition while building on the systems, industry knowledge and reporting experience developed over many years.

Our name

How the Kalham Name Came to Be

The name Kalham reflects the partnership behind the company. It was created by combining portions of the surnames of Kalham Consulting’s two partners: Kal from Kalakalo and Ham from Hampton. The name represents more than ownership—it reflects the shared experience, practical approach and commitment Shantel Kalakalo and Charles Hampton bring to the company. Together, they have built Kalham Consulting around clear communication, practical advice and long-term planning that helps clients make informed decisions. As the company has grown, the Kalham name has come to represent that same collaborative approach across Reserve Fund Studies and the broader consulting services the company provides.

Shantel Kalakalo

Shantel Kalakalo

President & Partner

Shantel Kalakalo is President and Partner of Kalham Consulting Ltd. and has more than 20 years of experience in the condominium and consulting industry. She spent nearly 18 years with Wade Engineering before continuing that work through Kalham Consulting. With extensive experience in Reserve Fund planning, Shantel has reviewed and overseen the preparation of more than 1,400 Reserve Fund Studies and related reports.

She works closely with condominium Boards and condo managers to explain study findings, financial information and long-term capital planning considerations in a clear and practical way. Her approach is grounded in real-world condominium experience. In addition to her professional work, Shantel has owned condominium properties and currently serves on a condominium Board as Treasurer and account signatory.

Shantel previously served for 10 years on the Board of the Canadian Condominium Institute – North Alberta Chapter, including as 1st Vice President, and currently serves as Co-Chair of its Member Services & Benefits Committee. She has also represented CCI North Alberta and the Condo Owners Forum in stakeholder discussions with Service Alberta regarding Reserve Fund matters.

Charles Hampton

Charles “Charlie” Hampton

Vice President & Partner

Charles “Charlie” Hampton is Vice President and Partner of Kalham Consulting Ltd. and has been preparing Reserve Fund Studies for the past seven years. Before moving into Reserve Fund work, Charlie spent approximately eight years as a home inspector, giving him a strong practical understanding of building components, systems and common maintenance concerns.

That hands-on inspection background continues to inform his approach to long-term capital planning and Reserve Fund reporting. Charlie values the role Reserve Fund Studies play in helping condominium corporations and Boards plan ahead, understand future capital requirements and make informed decisions about the property. His background includes training and credentials in home inspection, building enclosure review, moisture control and indoor air quality.
